MUSIC CURRICULUM
Roe Green Junior School are part of the Brent Music Service and follow their Music's Cool programme. Music’s Cool is an exciting, multi-cultural music scheme for schools, offering high-quality curriculum music lessons. Fully aligned with both the National Curriculum and the more recent Model Music Curriculum, Music’s Cool is delivered by music specialists in Brent primary and special schools.
This classroom-based programme helps students develop musical skills and understanding in a fun, practical, and creative way. Our team is more than just a group of visiting tutors—we work in partnership with schools to put music at the heart of school life.
The carefully designed, progressive syllabus runs from Nursery through Year 6 (and into KS3 for SEND settings). With singing and performing at its core, the programme gives children the chance to learn several instruments drawn from diverse musical traditions.
Students can develop instrumental skills over time on recorder, ukulele, or violin, while shorter modules and focused listening activities explore a wide range of genres and cultures, including:
-
Body Percussion
-
Tamboo Bamboo
-
West African Drumming
-
Songwriting and Arranging
-
Gaming and Film Music
-
Samba
-
Rap
-
Beatboxing
