SAFEGUARDING
At our school, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Dan Guest and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Joanne Walker. They are responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters and ensuring that concerns are managed effectively and in line with statutory guidance.
The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils and we expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
Our safeguarding practice is underpinned by current UK legislation and statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children. We have clear policies and procedures in place to ensure that concerns are identified early and responded to promptly and appropriately. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and designated safeguarding leads are in place to oversee and support this work.
We also recognise our duty under the Prevent Duty (Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015) to protect children from the risk of radicalisation and extremism. Through our curriculum and school ethos, we promote fundamental British values such as respect, tolerance and the rule of law, helping children to feel safe, valued and able to express their views.
Online safety is an integral part of our safeguarding approach. In line with guidance such as Teaching Online Safety in Schools and the UK Safer Internet Centre recommendations, we educate pupils on how to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully. We ensure that appropriate filtering and monitoring systems are in place, and we work closely with parents and carers to support safe online behaviours at home and at school.
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where all children can learn, grow and thrive.
