PREMIUM NXUPNUPS

The Pupil Premium Grant was introduced by the UK government in 2011 as a targeted funding initiative to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in primary schools. It's purpose is to address attainment gaps by providing additional financial support to schools for pupils who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible at any point in the past six years, are looked-after children, or have parents serving in the armed forces.

At Roe Green Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their background or circumstances, have equal access to high-quality education and opportunities to succeed. We recognise that disadvantaged pupils may face a range of barriers, including limited access to resources, lower levels of prior attainment, and social or emotional challenges. The Pupil Premium Grant enables us to implement targeted strategies to overcome these barriers and promote equity across our school community.

Our approach is focuses on three key areas: high quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies to support pupils wellbeing and engagement. We invest in professional development for staff to ensure consistently strong teaching across all subjects, with an emphasis on adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practices. In addition, we provide targeted interventions, such as small-groups and one-to-one support, to address specific learning gaps and accelerate progress.

Through the grant, we fund initiatives that enhance pupils social, emotional, and mental wellbeing, including pastoral support, counselling, and enrichment opportunities such as educational visits and extracurricular activities. We aim to ensure that financial disadvantage does not prevent any pupil from fully participating in school life.

The impact of our Pupil Premium strategy is closely monitored and evaluated to ensure that funding is used effectively and that interventions lead to measurable improvements in attainment, attendance, and overall pupil outcomes. At Roe Green Primary School, we remain dedicated to narrowing the achievement gap and enabling every child to reach their full potential.
